Bodrum Castle It had been constructed by the Saint Jean knights between 1406-1522 on the Zephia Island. After Tamburlaine Khan (the Turkish supreme ruler of Tatar tribes) destroyed Saint Jean knights' Castles in Izmir, Girit and Istankoy, they built this castle. It has been sized as 180x185m and there are 5 towers name as French, English, Italian and Snake. The highest tower of the castle is French tower as the height of 47, 5 m. Knights had made forced every side of castle walls accept the sea side because they had trusted their navy force. These walls are strengthened as double size.

There are 249 armorial bearings on the castle wall and 16 in the garden. By the time the color of those armorial bearing has disappeared and there are any knowledge about what they were indicated.

In 1480 Turkish Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror, could not take the castle because of its forced navy force , but after the conquest of Rodos island in January 5th 1923 , Turks did not use the castle for defense, it became a jail in 1895.
